Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a “Dental Home” for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care. This will also help for us to establish a positive relationship with you and your child.
You can help us make the first visit to the dentist an enjoyable and positive one. Our warm and friendly staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions you or your child may have. We are all trained extensively in treating children of all ages and will be able to make each patient feel comfortable!
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination and future appointments. Our purpose is to gain the trust and confidence of your child (and you!) and overcome apprehension. Most of our patients actually come into our office happily and willingly and are sad when it is time to leave.
At the initial examination we will clean your child’s teeth, assess oral hygiene, discuss dietary habits and possibly obtain x-rays (if deemed necessary). We will discuss at home oral hygiene and diet and make appropriate recommendations regarding both of these issues. If cavities are found we will discuss what future appointments are needed and the procedure for fixing the teeth. Every child will leave with a beautiful sparkling smile and tools to take care of their teeth at home and stickers and prizes!
